The Purpose of Walton Band and Orchestra Parents, Inc.WBOP (Walton Band and Orchestra Parents Association, Inc.) is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the service of the students, faculty and friends of the Walton High School Music Department. The goals of WBOP are:
The success of WBOP is entirely dependent on student and volunteer parent efforts. All band, orchestra and guard parents are automatically members of WBOP. Member activities might include taping performances, construction of props/sewing costumes, provide refreshments at football games, host festivals and concerts, maintain and operate trucks for away competitions and games, organize parent tailgate parties, provide legal, medical and financial advice for the group, organize/chaperone summer music camp or field trips for the directors, publish a monthly newsletter, maintain a website, or plan, organize and publicize all fund raisers. Several standard fund raisers each year provide the majority of our budget. Our main fund raisers are listed on the Fundraising page. WBOP membership elects a new WBOP, Inc. board in the spring to serve one year. This group addresses the administrative tasks common to both Band and Orchestra organizations as well as any joint fund raisers. Members of the WBOP, Inc. board also join and serve with additional members chosen from their respective organizations to form separate Band and Orchestra sub-Boards.
